This presentation will be an interactive overview of the building life safety systems, maintenance and inspection requirements associated with the systems that are contained in most commercial buildings. The intent of this seminar is to provide the participants with an opportunity to better understand the importance of these systems, how these systems, operate and the reasoning behind the code requirements of mandatory record keeping and the proper maintenance of these specialized life safety systems.

Speaker Bio

Ted Jensen, Fire Hazard Inspector
Grand Rapids Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau 

Ted Jensen is a motivated, dynamic, award-winning speaker, public educator, and 25-year veteran inspector for the Grand Rapids Fire Department's Prevention Bureau. Ted is a hands-on career professional whose leadership and experience has resulted in achieving the Fire Department's Medal of Merit and a Medal of Commendation for reaching the public through a wide variety of safety messaging. He has also earned the IAFF Media Award for a one-time project, the Public Educator of the Year Award from the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society, and a special tribute recognition from the State of Michigan. Ted's passion is taking his knowledge and life experience and designing motivation, Educational presentations and enhancing public safety through talking with community groups, students, businesses and the public at-large. As an active member of the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society's Public Education Committee, and his involvement with local church and Men's outreach groups he is committed to reaching and teaching as many people as he can.
