Kids Food Basket:

Did you know that about 1 in 5 local kids are affected by hunger?  In 2001, a Grand Rapids principal spoke about seeing some of her students digging through the trash to find food scraps to take home for dinner.  In response to this story, Mary K. Hoodhood set in motion a community response that turned into Kids Food Basket (KFB).  In 2002, KFB served sack meals to 125 students from 3 schools.  Today they serve 9,000 kids in Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa and Allegan counties.  In 2019, they finished up a building project with a new 30,000 square foot facility and 10-acre farm.  Kids Food Basket cares about West Michigan!  Their mission is to provide healthy meals to students so that they can reach their full learning potential.  Come with BOMA West Michigan and tour the newly constructed amazing Kids Food Basket facility and farm.  See where they grow some of the nourishing food they use and hear about how they are impacting Western Michigan.  After the tour, join us for boxed lunches at their covered, barn patio and picnic tables.  Don't miss this incredible event!
